Defining Wireless NetworksDefining Wireless Networks
8 September 2021Wireless NetworkA wireless network can enable people to access information and applications without wires.  People can communicate with someone else anywhere in the building, any other city, and even anywhere in the world.  Without wires, it is easier to move around while still staying connected. Earliest forms of Wireless Networking The earliest wireless communication network must have been smoke signals.  Native Americans, making a fire and waving an animal skin over the smoke, must have been one of the earliest forms of sending a message without wire connections.  These smoke signals could be seen over great distances. Morse Code is another form of wireless communication.  Pulsing lights, in certain frequencies, related messages between ships.  Morse Code is still an important type of communication today. Wireless Networking Today Conveying information between computers and other devices without the use of wires can also be called “The Invisible Medium”.  Radio Waves or Infrared Light is mostly used as a medium for communication between users, databases, and servers. Older cell phones do not fall into the computer device category but also work wirelessly.  Newer phones, however, are now incorporating computer power and adaptation to network adapters.  Most electronic devices will eventually be able to work wirelessly. Today’s smartphones can almost do all things that a full computer can do.  From connecting to the internet for information, sending and receiving e-mails, sending and receiving messages, and having access to multiple apps. Making use of informative apps, many types of information can be accessed, for example, a parent searching for guidance to cope with his 8-month-old child’s sleep regression.  Because of a Wireless Network, they will find that the 8-month-old-sleep-regression comes with big developmental and physical changes. Defining Wireless Network There are four types of wireless networks.  PAN works within reach of another person.  LAN’s coverage is throughout a building or campus.  MAN covers a whole city, and WAN has a worldwide reach. Technology Usage in Education and HealthcareTechnology Usage in Education and Healthcare
1 September 2021Education and HealthcareUsing Technology for Educational purposes is nothing new.  In many schools and universities, it is used daily during classes.  Even for the younger learners, the use of computers, mobile devices, and tablets is becoming essential. Through integrating technology in the classroom in a positive manner, diversity in the learning environment is promoted.  In some classrooms, the chalkboards are replaced by digital whiteboards and have more iPads in the storeroom than pencils. Benefits of Technology in Education Technology incorporates different styles for learning and can be modified until it suits everybody.  Students learn in different ways and also channel their knowledge in different manners.  Using technology, all students can be accommodated in the best way for each to enhance their capabilities. Technology can be used in many ways to educate.  Online teaching and tutoring, webinars, teaching video tutorials, and much more are used when other methods are not available.  Some students prefer to do their studies and tests online. Many types of technology and devices are used in education.  From bigger devices, like computers, printers, etc. to smaller devices like tablets, smartphones, and even smartwatches, can be used successfully in teaching. Smallest Device to Larger Technology Devices The app on a smartphone can give a parent a link, for example, where they can be educated about their child’s 18 month sleep regression.  Bigger devices like sleep sound machines or monitors are used to help with a child’s health and sleeping routines. Technologies in Healthcare In healthcare, technology devices can be as small as a camera fitted on a tube to run through the veins of the human body.  Connected to a computer screen, the small camera’s progress can be watched, and health issues detected. The bigger healthcare technology devices include x-ray machines, scanners, big and small, monitors, life-giving machines, and so much more.  Innovative leaps had been made in health technology, all of which expanded the reach towards finding the best treatments. Disadvantages and Advantages of a Wireless NetworkDisadvantages and Advantages of a Wireless Network
20 August 2021Wireless NetworkLike with most things in life, a wireless network has advantages and disadvantages.  The demand for wireless connections continues to grow and people rely more and more on the internet for use with wireless devices.  However, even though very popular, a wireless network does have disadvantages. Disadvantages of a Wireless Network More modern devices lend themselves to be compatible with wired or wireless networks.  But, if not, changing to a wireless network can require extra equipment and devices to set up, which will lead to higher costs.  You might require the services of a technician when setting up the wireless network.  Also, more costs. The speed of a wireless connection might be slower than a wired one.  It depends on where your router is placed and how far devices are located from the router.  The further the device is from the router, the worse the connection can become. Wireless connections are influenced by nearby internet networks.  It can also be obstructed by everyday household gadgets, other technological devices, and structures in the building, such as walls, mirrors, and even furniture. Wireless networks are less secure.  If the network is not set up with password protection, it can be easier to hack, and information will be less secure. Advantages of a Wireless Network Needing no wires or cables to install this network might be your first biggest consideration.  You can skip the time-consuming laying of cables and wires.  No need to drill holes through walls to connect devices.  The costs for installing this network will be much less than the wired network. With a wireless connection, you can move around freely without losing the signal of the internet.  For a larger network, you need to install a router to keep the signal strong throughout the network. The Wireless Network is much more convenient in many ways than the wired network.  When you need to connect new devices, you still won’t need cables or wires.  Work can be done on any device throughout the network range with no need to be at a set desk. The Possibilities of Technology in ResearchThe Possibilities of Technology in Research
21 July 2021Education and Healthcare / Wi-Fi SolutionsResearch can be described as the use of existing facts and knowledge in a creative and new way.  Research is used to generate new understandings, new concepts, and new creations.  The use of technology to help in this quest cannot be underestimated. Research happens on all levels of living and in all areas of life.  Daily research is done in health and sickness, in education, in science, and in almost everything that you can see, touch, smell, hear, and taste. Why do we Need Research? Research is essential to find out new things, new methods, new treatments, and new technology.  Research fills in those gaps in knowledge that sometimes appear.  It helps to make the puzzle of many occurrences complete. The reason why new technologies see the light every day is because of research.  Technology itself is used in research in almost every way possible.  Without research, many things would just not be known, or not have been invented. What is Research? Research is the gathering of information from different sources.  Research is done to discover, explore, and uncover unknown knowledge, and to use this knowledge to advance to the next level of knowledge. Research is also used to test old theories and create new theories from the knowledge gathered.  Research will also make it possible to predict what might happen in different and varying circumstances.  Research is testing the known and using these results to try and figure out the unknown. The Influence of Technology on Research Technology is used in almost all research.  You will also need technology to research technology to create the new and advanced technologies which are always in demand. Research contributed to most of the apparent facts that improved life for all.  Research in medicine and health improved treatments and the possibilities for correct diagnosis of illness.  Research, with the help of technology, changes the world for the better, daily. Factors that can Influence your Wi-Fi SignalFactors that can Influence your Wi-Fi Signal
14 July 2021Wireless NetworkThere are several things to take into consideration before a Wireless Network can be installed.  Different types of wireless technology have different limitations and constraints.  A properly performed Wi-Fi site survey should be done before any installations should be considered. Reasons to perform a Wi-Fi site survey Many factors can influence the performance of any Wireless Network.  A network without cables and wires functions with signals and radio waves that can be obstructed by various objects. A survey will detect anything that can cause an obstruction, like physical obstructions, electronic gadgets, other devices, and technical settings.  Other wireless networks in the nearby area can also affect networks in their signal reach.  The distance between devices in the planned network can also have an influence on which network should be used. Physical Obstructions Physical obstructions can be such things as materials used in construction like metal and concrete.  This can deflect or obstruct a Wi-Fi signal.  Mirrors on walls can also have a considerable impact on these signals. Other Devices and Electronic Gadgets Electronic devices and gadgets can interfere with the frequency of a wireless network.  A long list of these gadgets and devices can include microwave ovens, alarm systems, satellite dishes, and cordless phones.  A survey will identify if any of these devices will cause a problem. Nearby Wireless Networks Other wireless networks in the nearby area can have a major influence on the performance of your network.  A neighboring business, a local hotspot, or coffee shop can interfere with smaller home wireless networks.  A survey will identify these problems and the correct channel changes that can be made during installation. Distance from a Router The distance from a router will affect the strength of the Wi-Fi signal.  The further from a router, the more physical obstructions and other devices can interfere with the signal.  When deciding on a wireless network, the distance between devices should be considered.  When the devices are far apart, you might need to install more than one router to accommodate all. All these problems can be detected beforehand when a proper survey has been done.  The best solutions for these problems can then be decided on.  When the planning, decision on which wireless network will be best, and the installation take place, the problems can be solved as part of the installation.
